SynopsisANGEL AND THE BADMAN
Quirt Evans is a hardened criminal bent on tracking down the man responsible for his foster father's murder. When Evans is wounded in a scuffle, a kindly Quaker family takes him in. Unexpectedly, the tough outlaw begins to fall in love with the family's innocent daughter Penelope (Gail Russell
), who encourages Quirt to become an upstanding man of good character. Although he makes great strides to change his ways, Evans is plagued with the desire to get vengeance for his slain foster father and finds it difficult to tread the path of straight and narrow.
U.S. Marshal John Carruthers (John Wayne) is on the hunt for the Polka Dot Bandit (Yakima Canutt), who has made off with four thousand dollars of payroll money. The plot thickens when Carruthers discovers that the thief is in the employ of a seemingly good citizen named Malgrove (Edward Peil Sr.), who has plans to slowly starve the people of Yucca City by preventing all supply wagons from entering. Supposedly an upstanding pillar of the community, Malgrove has his eye on the ore-rich land surrounding the settlement; and by starving the townsfolk, he hopes to force them into selling their land. But just as Malgrove's evil plan is about to work, Carruthers steps in, exposes the scheme, and sets things right, allowing peace to return to Yucca City.
