HOLY NIGHT: THE BEGINNING OF THE LIFE OF JESUS
Isaiah prophecies the coming of the Messiah, and centuries later the annunciation and birth of Jesus Christ occur.
ESCAPE TO EGYPT
The three Wise Men visit the baby Jesus, King Herod decrees that every male child in Bethlehem under the age of two be killed, and Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus flee to Egypt.
BOYHOOD AND BAPTISM
Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus return to Nazareth where Jesus grows up. John the Baptist baptizes Jesus in the Jordan River. Pontius Pilate challenges King Antipas to rid the kingdom of John the Baptist.
MEN OF THE WILDERNESS
Jesus wanders in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights. King Antipas's troops take John the Baptist to the Fortress of Machaerus and throw him in the dungeon. Jesus starts His first Galilean mission with Simon, Andrew, James and John.
FATE OF JOHN THE BAPTIST
Peace comes to John the Baptist in prison when he learns that Jesus has named him as the one foretold to prepare His way. Salome dances at a party for King Antipas and as her reward asks for the head of John the Baptist. The 12 Apostles return and Jesus tells them about the death of John.
RETREAT AND DECISION
Jesus reveals to the Apostles His trials that are to come but they do not understand. In Bethany He raises Lazarus from the dead. The Pharisees and Priests are angered. He enters Jerusalem hailed as King but withdraws from the city to prevent conflict.
CHALLENGE OF FAITH
Jesus continues to spend his time with "sinners" and to heal the sick. He renames his disciple Simon, calling him Peter. John the Baptist remains imprisoned but hears of the miracles of Jesus.
The people begin to question the leadership of the High Priests and the Romans as Jesus continues to preach. He chooses his 12 Apostles and teaches them the Lord's Prayer.
RETURN TO NAZARETH
More miracles are performed as Jesus travels through Galilee and on to Jerusalem for Passover. Nicodemus, a Pharisee, goes to Jesus with questions. Back in Galilee Jesus preaches the parable of The Good Samaritan.
While Jesus is teaching at the Great Temple, Caiaphas the High Priest and the Pharisees begin to wonder if He is dangerous to their authority. Jesus disperses the 12 Apostles to begin preaching throughout the land.
TRIUMPH AND DEFEAT
In the Great Temple, Jesus overturns the tables of the money changers. He celebrates the Passover feast with the Apostles. Judas betrays Him. Taken before Pontius Pilate and King Antipas, He is ordered to be crucified.
CRUCIFIXION AND RESURRECTION
Jesus is crucified, and as foretold, on the third day He is raised from the dead. Appearing before the Apostles, he states "Blessed are those who have not seen but yet have believed." The early days of the Christian church begin.
